Reaching up, reaching out, and reaching in
Becoming A Christian
If you died today, do you know without a doubt that you would spend eternity in heaven?
The Bible tells us that every person sins. We must agree with God that we are sinners.      Requirements for Eternal Life (Salvation)
Romans 3:10 As it is written: "There is no one righteous, not even one."
Acknowledge that you are a sinner.
(Romans 3:10, Romans 3:23)
Romans 3:23 "For all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God."      Know that Jesus died so that you could be right with God.
(John 3:16,Romans 5:8, Romans 6:23)
The Bible also tells us that even though we were sinners, and deserved death for our punishment, God loved us and sent His only son to take the punishment for our sins.      Believe that Jesus is God's Son and that God raised Him from the dead.
(Romans 10:9)
Romans 5:8 "but God demonstrates his own love for us in this: While we were still sinners, Christ died for us."     Repent (or turn) from your sin and turn to God.
(Acts 2:38)
Romans 6:23 "For the wages of sin is death, but the gift of God is eternal life in Christ Jesus our Lord."     Commit to God that you will allow Him to be Lord of your life.
John 3:16 "For God so loved the world that He gave His one and only Son, that whoever believes in Him should not perish but have eternal life."     Share your commitment with someone
(Romans 10:9-10)
Romans 10:9-10 "That if you confess with your mouth, Jesus is Lord, and believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead, you will be saved. For it is with your heart that you believe and are justified, and it is with your mouth that you confess and are saved.
Romans 10:13 "For everyone who calls on the name of the Lord will be saved."
Acts 2:38 "Peter replied, 'Repent and be baptized, every one of you, in the name of Jesus Christ for the forgiveness of your sins. And you will receive the gift of the Holy Spirit."
1st John 1:9 says, "If we confess our sins, he is faithful and just and will forgive us our sins and purify us from all unrighteousness." 1st John 1:10 goes on to say, "If we claim we have not sinned, we make Him out to be a liar and His word has no place in our lives."
You may want to pray this prayer today: "God, I come to you today, admitting that I am a sinner, and there is nothing I can do on my own to be saved. Please forgive me of my sins. I believe that Jesus is your Son and that He died on the cross for my sins and was raised from the dead/ I ask you to come into my life today, save me and take charge and be the Lord of my life. I claim the promise in Your word that if I confess with my mouth that you are Lord, and believe in my heart that You raised Him from the dead, I can be saved. Father, Please give me the strength and courage to make my decision public, and to follow you in baptism."
If you have prayed this prayer today, then you will want to follow Jesus' example and command by being baptized. In Matthew 28:19-20, Jesus said, "Therefore, go and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, and teaching them to obey everything I have commanded you. And surely I am with you always, to the very end of the age."
